China reported its second imported Covid-19 case involving the Omicron variant on December 14, 2021, in the southern city of Guangzhou. The country was already tightening measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus while battling outbreaks linked to the Delta strain in several provinces. Beijing has been using a “dynamic zero-Covid strategy” in a bid to control outbreaks as quickly as possible through mass testing and strict limits on movement and transport.
