Different questions are being raised by fans and followers of Dr John Watts are flooding his series of hugely popular educational videos with queries related to hair transplants and hair growth issues.

In this educational video, noted dermatologist & trichologist and one of the Best Hair Transplant Surgeons in Hyderabad Dr John Watts answers select shortlisted questions of viewers related to hair growth, hair hall and hair transplant. He has performed over 2000+ hair transplant surgeries successfully.

Naveen Chary asks: Sir, when you use hair transplant kits, do you reuse the same kits for another patient? What if one hair transplant kit used for an HIV-positive person for a procedure is reused? Won’t it lead to infection? Please explain.

In his response, Dr John Watts tells Naveen Chary that reinfection is impossible in a hair transplant procedure from one person to another person as every time qualified surgeons who take up hair transplant procedures in a safe environment always use “disposable hair transplant kits”. Hence, there is no chance of the infection spreading to another person.

Explaining further, Dr John Watts said that one should always undertake a hair transplant procedure from a qualified centre and experienced surgeon as they follow one more standard precautionary practice of screening all hair transplant patients during the pre-surgery for HIV, HCV and HBsAg.

“We also find out their seroreactivity levels. If we feel that it may be risky for such patients to undertake a hair transplant procedure in such a condition, we outrightly tell them and caution them against risking their health for a hair transplant. Health is more important than a hair transplant. No one should compromise health,” explained Dr John.

Simhadri Dhanunjaya Charya asks: Sir, is PRP good in hair thinning conditions? Will it bring results? Please explain.

In his response, Dr John Watts tells Simhadri that hair thinning could be attributed to several reasons such as nutritional deficiency, vitamin deficiency, genetic or normal hair fall or other causes. “It is important to find get a proper diagnosis. If it is due to nutritional deficiency or normal hair fall, PRP will improve your hair condition and arrest further hair fall of the existing hair,” he said.
However, PRP will have no impact if the hair fall is attributed to genetic reasons. Genetic hair loss has other solutions.
Talent asks: Sir, I have frontline hair receding. I want to undergo a hair transplant. Please tell me what could be the minimum or maximum cost to undergo a hair transplant. Please explain.

In his response, Dr John Watts tells Talent that his frontline hair receding need not necessitate a hair transplant if it is still at an early stage. “With proper medication, you can prevent further loss of hair. The existing hair can be strengthened and they can be a perfect cover for your frontline hair receding,” said Dr John Watts, adding that he need not worry about the cost of hair transplant surgery for frontline hair loss.

“The cost is not very high. But what you must worry about now is how to prevent your existing hair from further hair loss. If you are still in the early stage of hair loss and you can save your existing hair now, you may not need a hair transplant at all. However, if you have a family history of baldness, you may need one,” explained Dr John Watts.

It’s me asks: Sir, whenever I use Minoxidil I face an itching problem. I consulted my dermatologist and he suggested I opt for water-based Minoxidil lotion. Please advise what I should do now.

In his response, Dr John Watts tells him that Minoxidil is alcohol based as it helps in better absorption and prolongs its storage life.

However, he pointed out that water-based Minoxidil lotions are not that good in their absorption on the scalp. “Presently, there are no published research papers on the effectiveness of water-based Minoxidil lotion but you have no other option but to opt for it only,” he pointed out.
