ஆழ்வார் திருமாலையில், உடல் பெற்ற பயனான ஆத்மபரமாத்ம ஞானத்தை அறியும் முயற்சியேயில்லாமல், உடலின் விருப்பத்தின் வழியே சென்று வாழ்க்கையை வீணடித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் உலகத்தாரைப் பார்த்து இரங்கி உபதேசிக்கிறார். கடந்த ஐந்து பாசுரங்களாகத் தம்மிடத்தில் எந்த நன்மையுமில்லை என்று வருந்திய ஆழ்வார், அடுத்த ஐந்து பாசுரங்களில் அனைத்து தீமைகள் வேறு உள்ளதால், பகவான் அருகில் செல்லத் தகுதியில்லையென்று அஞ்சி விலகுகிறார். பிறர் குற்றங்களையே பார்க்கும் மனதையும், தன் குற்றங்களைப் பார்த்து, அவற்றை விலக்கி, பகவானை நோக்கித் திரும்ப வைக்கும் ஸ்வாமிகளின் உபன்யாஸத்தில் ஆழ்வாரின் விருப்பத்தை அறிந்து அதன்படி நடக்க முயற்சிப்போம்.
In the ThirumAlai, Azhwar pities the worldly souls who are wasting this Birth by seeking sensual/ bodily pleasures rather than acquiring AtmA-paramAtma GyAn and counsels them.
While in the previous five pasurams AzhwAr had lamented that he did not possess an iota of goodness, in the next five pasurams, he wails, if that was not all, he possessed every possible evil too! He therefore felt compelled to shy away from BhagawAn.
