‘India’s Measles Outbreak A Consequence Of Covid-19 Health Services Slowdown’ | IndiaSpend

What lessons can we learn from China’s relaxation of its zero-Covid policy after three years, and from India’s ongoing measles outbreak? From China’s experience, we should learn that we cannot completely eradicate all infectious viruses, but understand that these are going to be part of our ecosystem, said K. Srinath Reddy, president of the Public Health Foundation of India, in an interview. Thus, India’s public health policy must prioritise effective disease surveillance at the local level to detect disease outbreaks like measles early on, and frame a rapid response, he said.
