Organic Winery & Vineyard, Southbrook Winery Sustainable Agriculture!
In today's video, I am at Canada's largest organic winery, talking with Bill Redelmeier owner of Southbrook Farms in Niagra-on -the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.
Mr. Redelmeier explains his passion for sustainability and biodynamic farming. This is a fascinating tour of the vineyard and a huge education on sustainability and why it is so important for agriculture! It is fascinating to learn how he went from growing corn to growing grapes!
I learn about the ancient method of producing Orange style wines which are regaining popularity globally. One of the greatest things that Mr. Redelmeier says is, "If you can't taste the passion in the wine you are drinking the wrong wine."
The Southbrook Vineyards Estate Wine is field traceable, so you know which field the grapes originate from. The interesting thing about wines is that they are labeled by Country, Region, State/Province, County, Town, and field! This is a concept that Starbucks is using when they label the country or region of their coffee. It is an excellent way to add value, and show consumers where your products come from and why they are unique and special!
Part Two will elaborate on the solar power used at the winery and how they use that energy to convert grapes into incredible wines.

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am an 18-year-old 4th-generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality.
