This year, KL Fashion Weekend, a consumer event, is making a momentous return, with a new twist, as it is the first fashion event to be presented in Phygital, a combination of both physical and digital world. Apart from calling upon the fashion industry practitioners at all levels and fashion consumers to embrace sustainability and ethics, KL Fashion Weekend 2021 pioneers as the first to introduce NFTs for fashion and a metaverse designer exhibition. KL fashion Weekend 2021 is viewed as the jumpstart for a renaissance movement of the creative arts in Malaysia following the pandemic after effects.
MyCreative continues to play its part to help promote and support this industry by offering loans and grants, training to upskill especially digital skills and marketing efforts online.
MyCreative Ventures is a government investment arm set up to spur Malaysia’s creative industry via strategic and innovative funding. MyCreative was incorporated in 2012 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Minister of Finance (Incorporated), reporting to the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) with the mission to:
i. boost the attractiveness of Malaysia’s creative industry measurable by job creation;
ii. increase gross income from Malaysia’s creative industry to significantly contribute to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP);
iii. and elevate the status of Malaysia’s creative industry via public awareness and social impact.
