Kamala Harris makes history as first woman to assume US presidential powers

Vice President Kamala Harris has briefly taken charge of the United States while Joe Biden had his annual health check in hospital.

The President transferred power to Ms Harris while he was placed under anaesthesia for a routine colonoscopy.

The vice president temporarily took control of the military and nuclear weapons, making her the first woman to lead the United States.
