
National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) is the largest rural support organisation in country in terms of outreach, staff and development initiatives. Established in 1991 with the endowment of PKR 500 million from the Government of Pakistan with the mandate to organise people and alleviate poverty it has reached 72 districts across provincial boundaries and AJK.
The centre-piece of the its approach is 'social mobilisation' of poor households into institutions of the people, in order to directly engage them in decisions that affect their lives and prospects. Belief behind is everyone including poor and women have an innate potential to help themselves; that they can better manage their limited resources if they get organised and are provided technical and financial support.
