0:42 - 120 BUS CAPTAINS INFECTED; 7 CLUSTERS INVOLVING BUS INTERCHANGES
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Monday (Aug 30) that a total of 120 bus drivers have been infected with Covid-19 so far, making up about 1.3 per cent of the 9,500 bus captains here.

3:41 - PAY HIKE FOR 94% OF FULL-TIME LOWER-WAGE WORKERS
Within the next two years, almost all local workers will make at least $1,400, and others holding traditionally low-paying jobs as drivers and administrative assistants will get even more, as the Government redoubles its effort to speed up wage growth for the lowest earners.

The measures are among a slew of proposals from a Tripartite Workgroup tasked to improve the wages and well-being of lower-wage workers, which came under the spotlight during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Together, the measures - to be rolled out in phases from Sep 1 next year and Mar 1, 2023 - will significantly raise incomes for 94 per cent of all lower-wage workers here, said the report. Senior minister of state for manpower Zaqy Mohamad, who is also the chairman of the workgroup, shares more. Read the story: https://str.sg/3itb
