Since GM released the full software update to address battery Chevrolet Bolt EV fires (the first recall), we've experienced two new Chevrolet Bolt EV battery fires. This has prompted a new, second recall based on the new information that GM has gathered. I've seen and been involved with a number of discussions about this new Chevrolet Bolt EV battery recall and how GM is responding, so I wanted to share my thoughts and do a bit of myth busting along the way.
There's no doubt that GM still has a lot of work to do, even with programming for the first recall's software update, but I think that, as Bolt EV owners, we also have to be honest about what we actually expect out of this. I seem to be one of the few voices that is simply looking for a fix and a return to normal, rather than some free upgrade that might not be necessary.
